Placement

Course offerings
7th grade
Math 7 and Math 7 Accelerated

8th grade
Math 8 and Algebra 1

6th to 7th grade

Students will be given a placement test at their elementary school.  If the student is new to this area, then there will be a test given before school starts or on their first day of school.

Math 7 Common Core - This class will be going through the new Common Core State Standards.  This is a very rigorous class.  Most student will be placed into this class.

Math 7 Accelerated Common Core - This class will go over not only the Math 7 standards but also the Math 8 standards.  There will be very few students that will be placed in this class because it contains so many standards.  Students must get a 94% or higher on the Placement Test and above 500 on the CST 5.  Students must maintain an 85% test average in order to remain in this class.

7th to 8th grade

Math 8 - most students will go to this class.

Algebra 1 Common Core - students that were placed into Math 7 Accelerated that have accomplished a 85% or higher test average.  The reason for this is because the students will be tested on Math 8 standards that they learned in the 7th grade at the end of the school year.  Students need to maintain an 85% test average in order to remain in this class.

8th to 9th

Algebra 1 - all students that were in Math 8 Common Core will be placed in Algebra 1 in the 9th grade.  Also students that didn't get at least a 85% on test averages in Algebra 1 Common Core in the 8th grade will repeat the class.

Geometry Common Core - students that receive a 85% or higher test average.
